Archive Media

Alliance Storage Technologies, Inc. (ASTI) has more than three decades of expertise in the research, development, and manufacture of optical storage media. Optical storage is most frequently used in archive applications that demand secure, long-term retention of records. ASTI’s business philosophy and products are based upon an equally long-term support model, including support for current and past generations of optical media.

ASTI offers a multi-generation optical media product line that includes ASTI's NETArchive, Ultra Density Optical (UDO), Magneto Optical (MO), as well as several other media types to support Plasmon legacy systems. Optical media is available in both (WORM) Write Once Read Many and Re-writable formats.

ASTI continues to offer long-term support for legacy libraries and media so that dedicated customers can continue making use of investments. For example, ASTI G-Series optical libraries support both UDO and previous generation MO optical media. This backward compatible strategy allows customers to maintain full access to older MO based archive libraries while using UDO for current demands.

Archive Appliance Express (AAE)

The Archive Appliance Express (AAE) is specifically designed to meet the professional archiving needs of small to medium-sized businesses. It combines the performance and simplicity of network attached RAID storage with the longevity and authenticity of UDO2 60GB media.

This desktop or rack mount model, is excellent for very small applications where robotics are not required. The unit requires manual insertion and removal of UDO optical media.

The AAE is equipped with a standard Storage Management System (SMS) with RAID that can be configured with 2 or 4, 1TB SATA drives for a maximum RAID capacity of 4TB RAW. The library is managed by the Archive Management Software application.

Overview

Network Attached Storage (NAS)

The pre-configured AMS, specifically designed for data archiving, provides a flexible system with all the capabilities necessary for proficiently and effectively archiving, managing, and randomly accessing data. Adaptable to any industry, business, or organization, the highly configurable and versatile software provides powerful policy-based control for data migration.

RAID

RAID and is then committed to UDO for long-term archiving, based on user-defined policies. RAID provides fast access to the most recently read or written files. The AAE supports RAID 1 and RAID 5 (reference RAID chart on back of datasheet).

Ultra Density Optical (UDO) Media

True WORM (Write-Once-Read-Many) UDO technology offers superior longevity and data authenticity making it a cornerstone for organizations that are subject to industry regulations that mandate record authenticity. Fifty-year UDO media life dramatically reduces media maintenance, decreases the frequency of data migrations, and provides very low total cost of ownership throughout the life of the archive. The UDO2 drive has backwards read capability and can read UDO1 media.

Sangamon County Ciruit Clerk's Office

“Our major issue was time lost chasing documents. With the implementation of the archive solution, retrieval times went from DAYS to SECONDS.”
Tony Libri, Sangamon County Circuit Clerk

Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care

“We had to determine what information was retrievable among the absolute chaos of the first week after Katrina…We were able to recover all of the patient images off the Plasmon libraries…We are now primarily using the Plasmon’s UDO Archive Appliance for its long-term recoverability.” – Kenneth Allen, Health Systems Specialist

AGFA Healthcare

“Ensuring that we could provide a PACS archive solution that helps customers meet HIPAA compliance at a reasonable cost was a critical requirement. This was guaranteed with the performance, longevity, and authenticity of the UDO Archive Appliance.” – Lenny Reznik, Director Enterprise Imaging and Information, Agfa Healthcare.
